Old Boys Links...the way we keep in touch
On the right panel of this blog you will see a new feature that is Old Boys Links.
Due to the introduction of information technology and wide usage of internet, a human communication becomes easier. More people know how to use computer and surfing internet. Apart from e mail, more and more people register or open up an account with friendster, facebook, myspace and blog. We can see lot of old boys particularly those aged below 40 years old have their own account with the links mentioned before. They share their digital photos and add new friends in their account.
Networking is more easier than those days. Maybe the old boys graduated in 50's,60's, 70's and 80's found it is quite hard for them to reunite or keep in touch with their school mates. The only communication between them prior to the advent of internet was by manually that was through mail post or a reunion in school. Nowadays we just click and in few seconds and we could find our school mates.
We have our school website and few old boys blogs. For your information, there are two groups of ex students of SMI. The most prominent and well known is Old Michaelians Association and the other one is SMI ALUMNI Klang Valley. Maybe we are the third? Or maybe there are lots of SMI alumni groups out there. Unfortunately, these websites and blogs are not updated regularly.
But if you would like to know updates in our school you better check with Mr. Peter Khiew blog. Mr. Khiew is a disciplinary teacher in the afternoon session and one of the old boy of SMI.
The old boys links listed here are arranged according to their SPM year. Some might ask "what if I did not end my study in SMI but in other school?" To be an old boy of SMI, if you were registered as an SMI student, you are qualified to be part of us even though you just spend couple of days in SMI.
And some would say that " I don't have such accounts...so how will it be?" We understand that not many of us have online accounts as mentioned earlier. Well, it is not a major problem.
Internet is part of it, but the most effective way to keep in touch among us is by spreading the words of the existence of SMI Old Boys. Let them know who we are and when you meet with an old boy let them know that how proud we are to be one of the students in SMI. As one always says, once a Michaelian always a Michaelian.

New look...
A new look and design of our blog has been created. The old one for some may look so dull and conservative.
Therefore the new look blog has some new features and tone of colors. Instead of focusing on green and white theme colour, black and yellow colour have also been added.
Why black and yellow colour?
Yellow represents the old boys colour because our old school badge has the yellow colour on the "dacing". Since the school has adopted a new badge where there is no more yellow colour, it is important to preserve the yellow colour.
Black? Since our state flag consists of white, yellow and black it represents Perak. Michaelians are from Ipoh and Perakeans.
An honour to the school and state.
